Tata Motors, which acquired JLR, will start the assembly of the Land Rover Freelander 2 at the Chikhli facility in Maharashtra from November 2010.
The Chikhli facility was used by Mercedes Benz previously, on lease from Tata Motors. Mercedes handed over the facility back to Tata in December 2009. According to a report Tata Motors is carrying out maintenance work and setting up machinery’s for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) at Chikhli. Freelander 2, being the least expensive vehicle in JLR’s luxury vehicles line up, will be the first choice for Tata Motors to assemble it in India.
The Chikhli plant had a capacity to produce 3,500 units in single shift. One of JLR’s spokesperson confirmed that JLR plans to assemble Land Rover vehicles in India, for the Indian market from 2011.
With the assembling operations of JLR Freelander 2, the price may reduce. Right now, Freelander 2 is available at a starting price of Rs.33.55 lakh(ex-showroom, Delhi). JLR will carry out extensive quality checks with the locally produced Freelander 2.
If the price gets reduced after the assembly, the demand is surely to increase. Hence, JLR is planning to double its dealerships in our country within this fiscal to increase the sales. JLR has 3 dealerships at two cities in India, it will add 4 more outlets in 2010-11.

This car made its debut that took place in Carmel, California earlier this week. It is necessary to point out that this model adds even more luxury, chic, and style to the conventional 2011 Range Rover Autobiography.
A mesh front grille complements diamond-turned 20-inch alloy wheels containing 10 spokes and exclusive exterior paint called Barolo Black. This car is distinguished by its small “Autobiography Black” badge, body-colored door handles, and mesh side vents.
Grand piano-style lacquer trim of black colour is added on the doors, center console, and instrument panel of the Autobiography Black, whereas black leather covers the heated steering wheel and shift knob.
The models of the Range Rover Autobiography Black can be ordered by customers with a Jet/Pimento or Jet/Ivory color-combination. Despite the shade combination choice, absolutely all Autobiography Blacks have a special key fob and an embroidered logo.
If you want to purchase a standard Range Rover Autobiography you’ll have to spend over $109,625. However, the official price for the Autobiography Black edition hasn’t been released yet.

The Ice Warrior has had many upgrades in the last few months, and aside from some ongoing work and additional upgrades in the future, it’s pretty much finished.
