Land Rover ‘Landie’

The first information on Land Rover’s long-awaited ‘Landie’, which will make its debut at the Detroit Motor Show next month, has started to leak out.
Official information and photos will be released by Land Rover on 18 December, but one image has already found its way on to some US websites.
The Coupe-Crossover concept (which some sources say may be called LRX) will have two doors and a huge glass sunroof, and show the compact dimensions of Land Rover’s new entry-level model.
This model is smaller than the Freelander and will be based on a car-derived platform, but it will have four-wheel-drive capability. Features are expected to include fuel-saving stop-start technology – as in the new Freelander and 2006′s Land_e concept vehicle – and there may also be a hybrid version.
This new Land Rover – also previewed in a sketch released at the Frankfurt Motor Show – is thought to be scheduled for production in 2010.
