Ford’s Land Rover wins BusinessCar awards

Land Rover has scooped two accolades for Best Small 4×4 and Best Large 4×4 in the annual BusinessCar awards, voted for by readers of BusinessCar magazine.

The all-new Freelander 2 fought off competition in one of the most hotly contested sectors to win the ‘Small 4×4’ award – an impressive eighth consecutive win for Freelander in this category since 2000. The Discovery 3 was recognised as winner of the ‘Large 4×4’ category, making this its 95th global award since launch in 2004.

Land Rover corporate operations manager, Jon Wackett commented: “Receiving both these awards from BusinessCar magazine is a fantastic endorsement of the all-round capability that Land Rover vehicles offer to the business and fleet industry. We are delighted with the result.”

Tristan Young, editor-in-chief of BusinessCar added: “BusinessCar readers voted for Land Rover in both the 4×4 categories for the combination of ability, comfort and refinement offered by the Freelander 2 and the Discovery 3. They were unmatched in either of their respective sectors.”

Land Rover is committed to addressing the challenges of climate change and since September 2006 carbon dioxide generated by Land Rover manufacturing activities and UK customer vehicle use has been balanced through an industry leading offset programme run by Climate Care.

The Freelander 2 is on-sale now at Land Rover dealerships throughout the UK, priced from £20,935 to £33,990, including the contribution to offset carbon dioxide emissions. It has already sold nearly 1,500 units in the UK, since going on sale in December.

The biggest selling model in the UK and in Europe is expected to be the TD4 manual with a combined fuel economy figure of 37.7mpg and CO2 emissions of 194g/km.

The Discovery 3 has sold nearly 30,000 units in the UK and 115,000 units globally since launch in 2004.
